My Approach to Therapy

I am guided by a client-centered, narrative, and integrative approach as a clinician. The basis upon which I practice is built on a solid foundation of practical principles. Help is available and healing is possible!

Did you know that healing is your responsibility? No matter what has or hasn’t happened, who did it, or who didn’t do it, healing and becoming whole is your responsibility. Therapy works when you decide you don’t want to process through life alone. Your wellness depends on your willingness to receive the help you need to begin recovery and become restored. Beginning therapy is like a gift you give yourself for never giving up even on the toughest days. Therapy provides you with a trusted voice to be your most authentic self and express your feelings. Therapy is the safe place to share your story, and rewrite the narrative when needed. Therapy is to help you navigate through life no matter the path you are on, or the path you desire to take. Therapy is not easy, but it is necessary. Therapy will require work, and it is worth it.

Credentials & Qualifications

I obtained my bachelor’s in Interdisciplinary Studies from Stephen F. Austin State University. In December 2022, I completed my Masters in Counseling from LeTourneau University. Over the past ten years of my career, I have worked as an educator in and out of the classroom with individuals, children, and families providing psycho-education, coping skills, and strategies for mental and emotional health, with supportive reflection and feedback. I am also a self-published author of five books, “Purity In The Process: Poetry & My Story”, “Grown With No Regrets: Healing, Freedom & Grace”, Unmarried & Whole: 7-Day Guide To Becoming Whole”, and the newly released “Good Grief, Honey!” Book and Journal.

Most recently in my career, I transitioned from teaching in the classroom to being a school counselor. Previously I’ve had the privilege of working for two years as a Qualified Mental Health Specialist and Supervisor, providing training and rehabilitative skills (anger management, behavioral skills, emotional skills) to children and teens in a private practice. In addition, I am Trust-Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®) certified, which is an attachment-based, trauma-informed, intervention that is designed to meet the complex needs of vulnerable children.

Passion & Values

I value building relationships, quality time, teaching and learning, and prioritizing the processes of life. I value family, marriage, relationships, wholeness, purity, and peace. I also value purpose, individuality, and creativity. My passion is to provide resources and practical tools needed to not just live, but live abundantly. It is my passion to ensure that children, individuals, marriages, and families are healthy and whole physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. It is my purpose to be present and journey with you throughout the therapeutic process.

There’s a lot that you learn about yourself when what you are used to experiencing or doing is taken away from you. There’s a lot to process when you have experienced something that interrupts what was deemed “normal” for you. When life as you know it changes, you will need someone to help you navigate the new normal.

Lastly, I am a woman of faith and I believe in Jesus Christ. Disclaimer: just because I am a believer doesn’t mean you have to believe what I believe. What I truly believe is that healing and your well-being mentally and emotionally have no boundaries and are always available for you no matter who or where you are.

As Maya Angelou said, “There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.” Let’s work together in sharing and rewriting your story where necessary.

If you are ready to put in the work, I am here for you. If I sound like a good fit for you LET’S TALK THERAPY!
